Donate American Girl Fashion Show® Tickets
to Local Families of Deployed Soldiers and Gold Star Families

(Fayetteville, NC) - The Child Advocacy Center of Fayetteville will host the third annual American Girl Fashion Show® on Saturday, March 20, and Sunday, March 21, 2010, at the Crown Coliseum in Fayetteville. This fun, engaging program showcases historical and contemporary fashions for girls and their dolls. Proceeds from the event benefit the Child Advocacy Center’s child abuse prevention and outreach programs.

Thanks to a partnership with Fayetteville Cares, tickets to the 7 p.m. Saturday show may be purchased on the Child Advocacy Center’s website and donated to local families of deployed and fallen soldiers. The deadline for purchasing tickets to donate is Mar. 12.

More than 100 local and regional girl models will present the fashions, while lively commentary, music and decorations will create a memorable experience for girls and their families. Audiences will delight in historical clothing that resembles what the popular American Girl® characters might have worn. Contemporary “Just like You” outfits for older girls and sweet Bitty Baby fashions for little ones complete the program.

The event includes elegant refreshments, party favors, raffles and door prizes. Tickets are $30 per person. To purchase or donate tickets, visit the Child Advocacy Center website, www.childadvocacycenter.com, or call (910) 486-9700. Birthday party packages, guest model opportunities and more are available. Two raffles will take place: one for American Girl dolls and accessories and another for a Cover Photo for Cape Fear Parent Magazine.

American Red Cross Haiti Relief

January 15, 2010

Red Cross Accepting only money at this time.  checks, money, change anything will help.

The situation is dire. Hundreds of thousands of people are feared dead. Government offices, including the Presidential Palace, have collapsed.
Hospitals and the local Red Cross office have
sustained major damage. Children, families and communities are still suffering aftershocks following yesterday’s devastating earthquake. We’re sending a team of trained Red Cross responders to support our local staff and the Haitian Red Cross volunteers already providing food, water, and medical treatment to survivors. We pledged $200,000 from our International Response Fund in relief services yesterday, and increased our commitment this morning to $1 million thanks to your advance generosity.
Matthew Marek, who runs our office in Haiti, managed to relay the following details to us last night using Skype, an online messaging service:
some neighborhoods are completely flat. major individual home damage. no telephone
i’ve seen untreatable issues. bones broken and exposed. lacerations of all kinds
medical attention is needed all throughout the capital. people are scared and gathered in the streets
there is really no place to go in many of these neighborhoods
the dust from the collapse is still lingering in the air.
